Very strange. It works for me on the default theme. P.S. Browser: Firefox
I found out the following: If your browser blocks livejournal scripts (ad blockers or tracker blockers like ghostery can do this), then the script does not work as it should and redirects to the page of the first comment. Try adding the js livejournal library to the exceptions
