Referring to the past discussions on this script, I went ahead and did a little searching and found out that there is a way to force Chrome to show the "Always open these types of links in the associated app" option by updating the system settings through reistry. Have a look at this answer on superuser.com.
However, a leftover "bug" is that there isn't a way (that I know of) to automatically switch application from Chrome to Spotify.
