So does the extension automatically turn them into https?
Does it have to be amazonaws.com to properly be https? personally I like the media.tumblr.com string but. I am not sure if that aspect matters much though
Yes it will automatically redirect them to https which will give me a certificate error. It's inconvenient to disable things every time. Plus I find it annoyingly difficult to configure.

Don't know if it's permanent but this is better if you use "https everywhere" extension.
