OldYTPlayer | YouTube Old Player UI Pre-2025 & Minimal Tweaks

Removes YouTube’s new “Delhi” player experiment flags to restore the old video player UI. In English, this userscript brings back the Youtube UI we all know and love. This was developed due to many users like myself wanting a free method to get rid of the new video player change Youtube has forced on us. This userscript also comes with Return Youtube Dislike, Skip Sponsored Segments via Sponsorblock & many tweaks, all of which are toggleable.

This userscript restores the old YouTube video player UI by removing the "Delhi" experiment flags and brings back the familiar interface.
It also provides a variety of toggleable tweaks for a cleaner, minimal UI experience.

Inspired by Control Panel for YouTube by Jonny Buchanan. This is a free, lightweight solution for users who prefer the old player layout.

🧠 Main Features

  • ✅ Revert Old YouTube Player: Restores the pre-2025 player UI and hides the new fullscreen interface. (May require a page refresh)
  • ✅ Skip Sponsor Segments: Skips promotional video content powered by SponsorBlock.
  • ✅ Remove AI Summary: Hides AI-generated video summary blocks and the "Ask AI" button.
  • ✅ Enable Dislikes: Shows community dislike counts via Return YouTube Dislike.
  • ✅ ...and much more, all toggle-able.

⚙️ Setting Blocks / Features

Annoyances

Hide minor nuisances in the player.

  • Remove Hide Button: Hides the endscreen “Hide” button overlay.
  • Remove Pink Gradient: Reverts the pink progress bar to the original YouTube color.
  • Hide Sponsored Ads: Hides ad panels, sponsored banners, paid overlays, merch, and promoted sections.
  • Hide Shorts: Removes Shorts from home, search, sidebar, and related feeds.
  • Hide Share/Thanks/Clip Buttons: Hides these buttons across video pages and menus.

Tweaks

Change the look and layout of YouTube.

  • Classic Like/Dislike Buttons: Restores the legacy thumb icons and layout.
  • Restore Miniplayer Button: Re-adds the missing Miniplayer control beside size toggle.
  • Search Thumbnails Size: Adjust thumbnail and avatar sizes (Small, Medium, Large).
  • Minimum Grid Items Per Row: Force 2–6 videos per row on Home/Subs.
  • Reset All Settings: Clears preferences and restores default configuration.

🧩 Default Settings

By default, the following toggles are enabled:
Revert Old YouTube Player, Skip Sponsored Segments, and Enable Dislikes.

🌐 Supported Devices & Browsers

  • PC: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge — with Tampermonkey, Violentmonkey, or Scriptcat.
  • MacOS: Chrome, Firefox, Opera (Tampermonkey) — Safari (Stay for Safari).
  • iOS: Safari (Stay for Safari).

ℹ️ Note: Script remains functional as of October 2025, but may stop working once YouTube fully removes the old player UI.

🧰 Installation

  1. Install a userscript manager (Tampermonkey, Violentmonkey, Scriptcat, etc.).
  2. Click here to install OldYTPlayer.

🖼️ Menu & Where To Find It

The OldYTPlayer menu is gracefully built into the bottom of YouTube’s Settings UI (gear icon) so it doesn’t conflict with anything.
Scroll to the bottom panel to find your script controls.

💡 Tip: To hide the “Join” button, enable both Hide Sponsored Ads and Hide Share/Clips/Thanks.
