Declutter Pinterest v1

Description

Pinterest has increasingly promoted shopping, ads, and other clutter that degrade the browsing experience. This userscript cleans up intrusive shopping promotions, ads, notifications, and other distractions — making Pinterest more user-friendly and peaceful to browse.

This script uses Semantic Versioning and is currently in active development.

Version 1.0.0 and above are considered "Declutter Pinterest v1" (version 0.0.0 and above are considered "Declutter Pinterest v0").

v1 replaces v0, and includes fixes for a redesigned Pinterest UI, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Feedback welcome!

Features

  • Removes promoted pins and sponsored content
  • Removes “Shoppable Pins” (Pins marked with a Shopping tag)
  • Removes shopping cards and “Shop now” search results
  • Removes “Shop products inspired by this board” banners
  • Removes featured boards promotions
  • Removes pin comments (optional setting)
  • Removes red notification dot on Explore tab (engagement tool)
  • Removes dynamic search bar suggestions that refresh frequently
  • Disables autoplay of videos in pins (optional setting)

Settings

Toggle script options from the Tampermonkey menu. Settings are saved persistently.

Setting Description Default
Disable video autoplay Prevents videos on pins from automatically playing, reducing noise and distractions true
Remove shoppable pins Hides Pins with the Shopping tag icon that clutter search results and boards true

  • [ ] Remove little blue notification badge from favicon indicating new pins / notifications available
  • [ ] Test non-US locales for compatibility
  • [ ] Fix overlapping multi-image cards when footers are removed
